New Release Date Revealed by Ubisoft

After a delay that saw Ubisoft push back Rainbow Six Extraction into next year, we now have an official release date. Ubisoft announced that the latest entry into the Rainbow Six franchise will release on January 20, confirming a leak from the company last month. Furthermore, they announced more details of what to expect with the game's launch, including bonus content and an update to pricing.

Every copy of Rainbow Six Extraction will come with two Buddy Pass tokens which allow you to invite two friends to play the game free of charge for two weeks so long as they play in your squad. The game is a three-player co-op shooter, so this will ensure everyone has some squadmates on launch day. Unlocks and experience gained through Buddy Pass play can then be carried over into the full game if they decide to buy it. Moreover, the game will launch with both cross-play and cross-save across the Google Stadia, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X, with Buddy Pass tokens working on most platforms regardless of where you purchase.

Rainbow Six Extraction also got a price drop with this latest announcement. The standard edition will be available for only $39.99 while the deluxe edition, which includes three bonus packs and a cosmetic bundle, will cost $49.99. For those that frequent Rainbow Six's multiplayer title Rainbow Six Siege, there's an incentive to purchase Extraction too as getting any edition of the game will give players the United Front gear bundle and unlock the 18 operators featured in Extraction for free.

Originally revealed as Rainbow Six Quarantine back in 2019, Rainbow Six Extraction is a spin-off of Rainbow Six Siege that expands on the fan-favorite Outbreak event. Together with your squadmates, you're tasked with containing a rapidly spreading space parasite that crash-landed on Earth via an asteroid. It features a host of returning operators from its predecessor, only now everyone is clad in PPE and eradicating aliens rather than trying to solve a hostage situation or diffuse a bomb.

Between the price drop and the free unlocks for Rainbow Six Siege, Ubisoft has done its best to make Rainbow Six Extraction a good deal, especially after an initially lukewarm reception from fans on its announcement. More details on the launch of the game are likely coming with the release relatively close at hand. It releases on Stadia, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X on January 20.
